Client

Norwich Theatre operates three theatres: Norwich Theatre Royal – one of the UK’s oldest established theatres, Norwich Theatre Playhouse – widely regarded as one of the best fringe venues in the country, and Norwich Theatre Stage 2 – a creative community hub with its own, smaller theatre space, and rehearsal studios.

Brief

All three Norwich Theatre venues are located in different parts of Norwich. The theatres had been formally related for many years, but without a cohesive visual identity and communications system in place, very few people were aware the theatres were part of one family. This had often led to audience confusion over which venue was staging individual productions. Norwich Theatre asked Rose to help evolve their brand, by bringing the three theatres together under a single cohesive umbrella, whilst enabling each venue to retain and express its own personality. An essential objective in the brief, was to reposition Norwich Theatre as a creative authority and cultural hub in the region and beyond, which could connect with existing and future audiences from all ages and backgrounds.
